A richer experience than the original.. Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are a rare case of two movies that rightfully demand yet another sequel.. For all its modesty, lingers in the mind like an unresolved relationship or a life-altering, if random, moment.. For my money, Sunset tops the first installment because it involves characters who have more life under their belts. Nothing like a few years to clarify a personality.. The reunion has some lively moments, but a great deal of slow walking a...
1924396

Too often, the film gets distracted with things to giggle at, and breaks the spell.. Even with a third eye on your forehead and peyote in your bloodstream, you won't be able to follow this long and winding road any better than Doc does.. Despite the film's frustrations, it must be acknowledged that Anderson -- a master of the multi-strand, multi-character, multi-meaning plot -- is the perfect director to adapt Pynchon, in terms of both craft and spirit..
[Hunt] elevates what might have been a cute, familiarly plotted movie into a romance with real heart, sweetness and genuine emotion.. It's short on clever humor and big on convention and formula.. This bad-mannered love story has a funny foul mouth with a few bright spots of charm.. While Baruchel is fun to root for and watch flail about like a pipe-cleaner in the wind, this movie encourages a sick desire in me - to see Michael Cera and all the runners-up in the Mr. Puniverse Contest knocked dow...
0393109

It's a bit too Wonder Years at times, but the odd two-narrators gimmick plays right into the film's "flip" in structure.. . Based on a popular young-adult novel and brimming with all the angst and schmaltz you'd expect from such a source, this awkward coming-of-age drama does nothing to gild the legacy of middlebrow maestro Rob Reiner.. There's barely half a film here, stretched and pulled so thin you can nearly see through it.. Reiner, who made the similarly themed The Sure Thing about opposite...
0120679

So how come The Other Boleyn Girl is such a snooze?. Why in the name of ermine boleros would anyone make such a dull, coy and, worst of all, pretty film about Anne Boleyn?. .
Far more interesting as a trip than a destination.. There is no doubt that Shyamalan is a gifted director who knows how to push audience buttons, but heavy-handed horror shows like this one make the man behind the camera seems less an artist than a huckster..
